What is Erectile Dysfunction?
According to The Mayo Clinic, erectile dysfunction, or ED, is defined as trouble getting or keeping an erection that’s firm enough for sex.
Erectile dysfunction is the most common sex problem that men report to their doctor. It has been found that it affects as many as 30 million men. ED can negatively affect men and their confidence, relationships and happiness, among other important aspects of their lives.
How Do Men Address Erectile Dysfunction (ED)?
Men worldwide have turned to commercially available medications like Viagra and Cialis, but medication is not one-size-fits-all, and these options don’t always work for everyone. Urologists and other medical providers may prescribe a custom compounded alternative that contains the same ingredients (Tadalafil and Sildenafil) but in different dosages, etc.
Rapid Dissolving Tablets (RDTs)
Our experienced pharmacists have developed a number of unique formulas utilizing rapid-dissolving tablets (RDTs) that can be placed under the tongue. Both Tadalafil and Sildenafil are available in this unique dosage form and can be combined with other ingredients that may help.
TriMix aka Triple-P Injectables
When oral therapy isn’t appropriate or patients do not respond, Eastern States Compounding Pharmacy can discuss injectable erectile dysfunction therapies with your medical provider. One of the most common injectable preparations is a mixture of three drugs namely phentolamine, papaverine, and alprostadil in varying concentrations. This is sometimes referred to as ‘TriMix’ or ‘Triple-P’.
This combination of drugs is not available in traditional retail pharmacies but must be specially made at compounding pharmacies. The components of these injections have been shown to exert a beneficial effect in causing sustained penile erections in individuals suffering from ED. This medication is typically compounded at dosages that are specific to the requirements of each individual.
Other Compounded Medications to Address Erectile Dysfunction (ED)
Topical Preparations
Hypogonadism or low-testosterone can also cause ED. This condition has also been referred to as ‘Andropause’. This condition may be addressed with topical preparations rubbed into the skin. Low-T solutions may improve vitality, mood, and energy, as well as bone density and cognition.
