Custom Medication for Chronic Pain
Compounded medication is a great alternative for individual patients in need of custom solutions that are commercially unavailable or when medicinal options fail to give the desired effects or are limited because they may have adverse reactions to certain ingredients.
This is especially the case for people suffering from chronic pain and acute pain, as choices for prescription drugs have dropped over recent years.
The Prescription Drug Shortage
The popularity of compounding pharmacies has grown in the past decade, mostly due to the scarcity of viable medications. According to the FDA, only 154 drugs are currently available for addressing chronic pain across the globe.

Compounding pharmacies aim to address this issue with customized solutions. Eastern States Rx even works with a patient’s provider to effectively help them get exactly what they may need.

What is Low-Dose Naltrexone?
Naltrexone was initially approved by the FDA to address opioid addiction. At a lower dosage (10 or less of standard), it exhibits analgesic and anti-inflammatory properties. Another interesting effect is that it increases endorphin production. Low-Dose Naltrexone (LDN) is a non-opioid alternative that does not result in addiction, which is common with hard opioid pain medications.
Eastern States Rx has low-dose naltrexone available.
Please note that a prescription is required.
